Brand Nu Competition!

v5 T-shirt

We mentioned last week that our resident design/illustration genius Radim (AKA Brand Nu), has recently revamped, redesigned and generally refurbished his awesome website: www.brandnu.co.uk

To celebrate his all-round genius and the fact that he loves jelly so much, he has generously donated a handful of his limited-edition Tees for us to give away.

We’re running a competition to distribute them!:

If you’d like to win one please send us a photo of something you have in your office/on your desk/about your person that’s brand nu.  (Do you see what we did there?)

If you have anything that you’ve never ever ever used or is still in it’s original packaging, then send it to us and the best shots we receive will win a shirt.

We’ve taken some shots of things we found our office to use for inspiration:

Send your entries to michaela@jellylondon.com.  Don’t forget to include your address and shirt size!

Check out our flickr page for the latest entries!

Competition closes on the 29th July and the winner will be announced on the 31st!

Happy Birthday jelly weblog!

My gosh, it’s been a year since we started the jelly weblog!!  We hope you’ve enjoyed our antics and artwork!!

Some useless facts: In 12 months, we’ve posted 130 articles, received over 9000 hits and used around 1400 different tags. WOW! Our most viewed blog is our 50s-esque illustrations for FHM online; and our most viewed member of staff is Barney!! Our most searched-for artist is Neil Duerden, and a total of 42 people searched for ‘ginger’ to get to our blog… surprised?

The jelly team decided to pick a few of their favourite blogs from the past year:

happy birthday blog

Barney: “Mine would be Sim’s random and pointless animation “bigmouth.” I like it because I have a wall near my house that is covered the mouths of baby seahorses. They’re not intrusive and if you lean closer in they’ll give you a butterfly kiss…anywhere.” (check it out)

Dulcie: “My favorite blog was the Fatville blog because I PRODUCED IT!!! Because it was a really good fun, interesting project to work on. Because McCanns were brilliant to work with. Because Karen’s character work is beautiful even when they are fat people!! Because it was a massive success. Because it is now the display window at McCann Erickson on 7-11 Herbrand Street…GO SEE IT!” (check it out)

Chelsie: “I like the halloween one most, it was really exciting getting everyones entries in and they were all so creative (well, most of them were!) it was all the more fun when visiting agencies to see that there were jelly’s halloween blockheads sitting all over peoples desks! We’ll have to do it again this year!” (check it out)

Michaela: “I have 2 favourites; my first is Dan Mumford’s screen print session.  I love Dan’s style and currently have his screen printed artwork all over my apartment” (check it out)  ”My most favourite however, is on our press feature in Computer Arts Magazine for our Artist of the Month mailouts.  I spend hours on the blog and on our mailouts and it’s nice to have our hardwork displayed this way!” (check it out)

shiney and new for Brand Nu

Our world-renown commercial artist, Brand Nu has recently updated his website to a sleek new design!

v5 T-shirtHe’s also had some fancy tees designed; sadly, we haven’t received any yet but when we do, we’ll model them on the blog – promise!!

We’re also expecting some new work from our jelly baby any day now, so keep your eyes peeled!!

J.A.S.O.N. H.A.T.C.H.E.T!

Last week, we received an e-mail from our jelly baby Damien with a link for youtube and the words “No Tom Sellecks were harmed in the making of his music video, promise”…

Above is what we witnessed… a fantastic, catchy music video including all of the possible Rock ‘n’ Roll clichés: dancing robots, decapitation, Mother Teresa, unicorns, pirates, Hitler, Sir Trevor McDonald and a drumming Darth Vader!

Enjoy.

Mumford artwork dominates Download

mumford

hello hello!

Our Michaela recently went to Download Music Festival at Donington Park.  Apart from spending 6 nights in a tent, drinking copious amounts of beer and eating canned food – oh, and of course rocking out to Limp Bizkit – she managed to do a wee bit of Mumford-spotting!  Our bearded jelly baby is not unknown to the rock/alternative crowd and there were loads of t-shirts covered with his artwork.  Not only that, but the above artwork was used as a back drop for the band A Day To Remember!!

Did you see us at Portfolios?

jelly hello!

So, Portfolios was undoubtably a success for us.  Karen Cheung & Damien Weighill, our super on-sight artists, did a fantastic job of transforming our little space into an old lady’s living room!  So thank you both.  Another thank you goes out to Chris’s Mum for letting us borrow her furniture and to Charlie’s Mum for baking some delicious cakes. Nom Nom!

We also want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came and visited our stand – we had such a fantastic time!!

Our favourite feedback has probably been from one of our friends at Pearson who described our stand as “by far the most pleasing for the eyes and stomach”.  AWWW!

For those who didn’t make it, we have  a few pictures of our stand in its full glory (click on the thumbnails!):

And if you didn’t see our stand, then you may have seen us – joined by a few of our artists and friends – taking over the CR Boothnation!!

All of the photosets can be viewed on the CR flickr page here!

If that wasn’t enough, our pet cat named Icecream made it onto the creative review blog!!  The cute hand-made toy, created lovingly by our very own Karen Cheung, was indeed a star for the event!

Winners Announced: Many of you entered our competition to win an infamous C**T poster by Alison Carmichael.  We hand picked two names at random and are excited to announce the winners as:

Rosalind Parkes from Wham Brands
and
Steve Milbourne from Sony Music

Onomatopoeias for Kellogg’s

One of the latest projects keeping our lettering Guru Alison busy, has been for our friends at JWT.  They asked us to create 2 executions of words drawn in the style of the sound that they are describing… all for Kellogg’s Minibreaks!

ooh wine for Wimbledon!

Blossom Hill Thursday

jelly hello!

last year it was Evian and this year it’s Blossom Hill – going up in the world, I’d say!

we were approached in May by our friends at Pulse Group to create some lovely illustrations for Wimbledon’s sponsor for 2009 – Blossom Hill wines!  Our jelly baby Brand Nu created this nice, summery illustration.  Anyone for a glass?
