Halloween Competition Winners!

The past week we’ve been holding a Halloween Design competition, where we’ve asked you – our friends – to design a Halloween-Themed Mr Jelly Pants. (No idea what we’re talking about? Click here)

This year has been the best response we’ve had so far for publicity and entries and we’d like to say thank you to everyone who had the time to enter! Let’s not forget everyone who forwarded the e-mail to their friends and re-tweeted our posts for entries. Thank you too!

The office has got a little heated with debate with who should win… hence why it’s taken us 4 hours to decide!!

The winner of our Halloween Competition was sent to us by illustrator Kareen Herbert! Our office instantly fell in love with this and she received the most votes in our office by a long-shot!!

She chose our Trick Prize – which means she’ll be receiving a lovely box of random stuff found around our office! (A sneak peek here!)

Our runners up were submitted by Glenn Maguire at Sparkle Media and Matt Poscha at Proximity London – well done to you both!!

If you missed out on the chance to win, but still made – or would like to make – a Mr Jelly Pants, please send them in! We’d love to feature everyone’s versions of Mr Jelly Pants in our gallery.

All our current entrants and any we receive in the next few days will receive an Alison Carmichael Abandon Hope poster as a huge thank you from us at jelly – you’ve all put huge smiles on our faces :)

Drinks for Advice!

Last week, Charlie and Chris were asked by Steph Webb at Coventry Uni’s ‘Charge Team’ to come and talk to their third year Graphics and Illustration course students.

Charge is a wonderful student organisation that raises funds for the Coventry end of year show by organising talks from such industry luminaries as Si Scott and other UK design/illustration heavyweights. Our own jelly heavyweights went to see them with a laptop full of jelly projects and two heads full of sound advice about how to get on in our tricky business.

The guys talked for over an hour and then were whisked off to the pub by the students where they answered more questions in return for drinks… a far trade we thought.

Jelly are happy to be involved in a great cause like Charge and hope to get involved again the future!

You can see more pictures from the event on our flickr page here!

Shack – designs by Brand Nu

Brand Nu_Shack

Our jelly baby Brand Nu has been working with Shack Music Records for a few years now. He recently created new designs for them to use on 12″ record sleeves and promotional material. We love the step away from some of his more commercial designs into this beautifully coloured and elegant work!

Need some industry experience?

news

jelly hello!

We currently have the opportunity to offer some enthusiastic school/university leavers to help us around the office!  We have a list as long as our arms of promotion and in-house projects we need helping hands with.

What are we looking for?:

Bright, fun loving and enthusiastic youths who are up for anything!  Ideally with an interest in illustration, graphic design, animation, tv and/or advertising. Oh, and it helps to be street-wise and confident in London.

What are we offering?:

A short-term period with us at jelly towers, helping us with everything from press packs and jelly bags, to delivering the latest Alison Carmichael campaigns; photoshopping or working with after FX (if you already have experience); and of course, making tea & coffee!  We promise there’s never a dull moment with us jelly folk!

This position is unpaid.

If this sounds like something you want to do, get in touch!  Send a brief description about yourself and what you’d like to do, plus your CV and any contact details to michaela@jellylondon.com.

Looking forward to seeing some new faces!!

Added 31st July ‘09:

Hello folks!

Thanks to the wonderful people at D&AD, we’ve had a HUGE response to our request for helping hands.  Our calendar is booked up to Christmas with work experience placements, which sadly means we cannot offer any more for the time being.

But, do not fear!  Continue to send in your applications; We’ll keep them on file until we have some cancellations and/or it’s the New Year and we’ll be looking for another bunch of enthusiastic people to join us!

Michaela.

Our jelly baby Neil Duerden has just completed the latest Sony Ericsson campaign (his fifth for this brand!) that will be running all over the world very soon!!

Apparently he really enjoys the challenges of keeping this phone brand ahead of the competition… we just think he’s a step closer to that ‘world domination’ he keeps talking about!!

jelly artists move into clothing!

In the past month, we’ve been inundated with new clothing designs by some of our favourite jelly artists.

duerden_nuwave

First, Neil Duerden sent us pictures of his latest Nu-Rave-esque tees which will be launched in the next few months. He plans on having then printed in the UK and shipped worldwide – AND, rumour has it, a major retailer is already interested in marketing the brand! exciting times.

matt_supersuperficial

We’ve got t-shirts here there and everywhere. Of course, Brand Nu has recently printed his own design (win a shirt here!), as well as our lovely Matt Johnstone!!  Matt created this design for Super Superficial. Apparently it comes in two colours (although we’ve only seen yellow!).

Last, but by no means least, our Artist of the Month Poked Studio has also dived into clothing designs; not only does he have a full range of shirts on his website, but he was also comissioned to design a pair of shoes for The String Republic!!

Funky work for Casio

Casio-beta3b

Neil Duerden’s latest project has been for Casio Exilim, who are currently the consumer level choice of camera for millions of people around the world.

Neil decided to show this in a funky mid-level market graphic that appeals directly to there core consumer base.  We like it!

Poked Studio is Artist of the Month!!

Poked Studio is one of the most unique artists in our jelly roster, providing us with illustrations and animations that are both vibrant and contemporary. He describes his style as “graphical fun… with a bit of darkness here and there”, often combining both 3D and 2D to bring his surreal ideas to life.

Poked Studio_banner

Poked Studio’s main inspiration comes from video-game graphics and cartoons; something which shines through in his scenes of underwater worlds and outer space battles. Most of his work is heavily character driven, and uses textures and small details to create exciting and funny characters which ooze with personality and charm.

His unique style has attracted attention from Sony PSP, MTV, Doritos and the BBC online, as well as FHM and Computer Arts magazines.  When he’s not working on high-profile campaigns, he designs bespoke artwork for companies such as String Republic shoes and Rossignol snowboards.

You can view a selection of his 2D, 3D and motion stills on our Artist of the Month website: www.jellylondon.com/aotm
