Life is STILL a Broadway

Life is broadway

Back in February, we told you about the Broadway NYC Fashion 2009 Campaign using non-other than our very own Neil Duerden (click here for more).

He recently got in touch with the second part of the illustrated campaign that is currently live.  This advert is based around the theme of ‘Peace’ which made it great fun to work on!  Apparently there is also a short animation utilizing all the graphics from the illustration so, keep an eye out!!

bl:nd has been producing broadcast design and motion since 1995, re-inventing itself a few times along the way. Throughout their eclectic past, what remains constant at this bi-coastal US power-house is the ability to engender surprise and delight.

One of their more recent projects – “Black/White” video for the Raveonettes – was honored with Gold at the BDA Design Awards, given in New York  last week.

To find out more, you can view our latest newsletter on bl:nd – including online showreel, still-shots and all their awards!

news

jelly hello!

We currently have the opportunity to offer some enthusiastic school/university leavers to help us around the office!  We have a list as long as our arms of promotion and in-house projects we need helping hands with.

What are we looking for?:

Bright, fun loving and enthusiastic youths who are up for anything!  Ideally with an interest in illustration, graphic design, animation, tv and/or advertising. Oh, and it helps to be street-wise and confident in London.

What are we offering?:

A short-term period with us at jelly towers, helping us with everything from press packs and jelly bags, to delivering the latest Alison Carmichael campaigns; photoshopping or working with after FX (if you already have experience); and of course, making tea & coffee!  We promise there’s never a dull moment with us jelly folk!

This position is unpaid.

If this sounds like something you want to do, get in touch!  Send a brief description about yourself and what you’d like to do, plus your CV and any contact details to michaela@jellylondon.com.

Looking forward to seeing some new faces!!

Added 31st July ‘09:

Hello folks!

Thanks to the wonderful people at D&AD, we’ve had a HUGE response to our request for helping hands.  Our calendar is booked up to Christmas with work experience placements, which sadly means we cannot offer any more for the time being.

But, do not fear!  Continue to send in your applications; We’ll keep them on file until we have some cancellations and/or it’s the New Year and we’ll be looking for another bunch of enthusiastic people to join us!

Michaela.

new directors bl:nd – animation for GAP

“Black and White” utilizes light and shadow to convey the opposing themes of the piece, including love/hate, life/death, young/old, daydream/nightmare, and ugliness/beauty. The narrative unfolds through an innovative mix of shadow puppetry and animation, as two-dimensional characters come alive in a colourless world, underscored by The Raveonettes’ haunting vocals.
A majority of the elements used in the video were shot in-camera, and puppeteers’ hands and rigging are often left in the shots to create a more spontaneous and organic aesthetic. The piece retains its whimsy through unexpected visuals, references to the beloved Danish fairy tales of Sune’s youth, and a richly textured physical and emotional landscape that can only be fully experienced after multiple viewings.

Dolph is our May Artist of the Month!

Dolph is a fantastic new talent who has recently joined jelly.

He caught our eye with his dynamic and energetic animations and has wowed us with his illustration and character design!

Describing his style as “an urbanish twisted fairytale”, he has over 10 years experience in animation; all starting from his hometown, Rio de Janeiro!

His clientele has ranged from MTV to Sony, Coca-Cola and the Cartoon Network. His main inspirations are old sci-fi movies, which has led him to work on special effects for feature films such as Chronicles of Narnia and Hellboy!

You may have seen him in Stash Magazine with his Anime Network piece called “My Favourite Show” or amongst the talent in the Motion Graphics Collection DVDs.

View his still-frames on our Artist of the Month webpage!!

Elliott is April Artist of the Month!

jelly are proud to announce Elliott as our April Artist Of The Month.

Elliott is one of our talented motion gurus producing digital animations and broadcast commercials for some of our most high-profile briefs. He has a vibrant, bold and punchy style which can be manipulated to fit any project we throw his way!

His strength lies with his vast technical knowledge for his field, allowing him to work with anything and everything from 3D to After FX with a fast turn-around.

jelly go corporate for Orange

From sparkling wine to mobile phones, our jelly motion department has indeed been busy lately!

In addition to Trentodoc, our motion guru Elliot was asked to supply some lovely corporate animations for Orange via the London ad agency, EHS Brann. He collaborated with their in-house creatives to produce a series of four simple, linear and (we believe) beautifully crafted two-minute animations that reinforced Orange’s ethos and values for the company’s corporate website.

The jelly Collective is here!

Stop! Co-lab-o-rate and Listen! (vanilla ice 1990), sorry.

Well hello! jelly have come up with a super-fun co-working collaborative idea that might just tickle your creative bits. The jelly Collective is a platform from which jelly’s most talented and motivated members can advertise their artistic ambitions to London’s bedouin agency planners, producers and other transient creative talent stuck for fun stuff to do.

Just think of all those unrealised projects sitting in brain boxes, sketch books and note pads… We believe it be jelly-tastic to see those ideas come to life! How you ask? It’s easy!

Using our jelly forum, our artists pimp their thoughts/ideas/recipes to fellow users for immediate gratification, worship and envy.  Once an idea has been tossed, flossed and made generally beautiful, jelly help to promote the finished piece within the industry by showcasing it at festivals, exhibitions and any other suitable event or take off…

Are you as excited as we are? If you’d like more information, then please contact us on info@jellylondon.com.
