Sim came to say hello!

sim

Yesterday, we received a visit from our friend & illustrator Sim Marriott.

He flew all the way from Cornwall (yes, MILES away!) to visit jelly towers; check out his portfolio and tell us about what he’s been up to; oh, and drink our tea. Of course.

He reminded us that some of his work is currently being displayed on one of our client’s websites.  Our friends at DDB UK are showcasing their campaign for Kwik-Fit featuring Sim’s fantastic illustrated characters.  You can check it out here!

We can’t wait for Sim to come and visit us again!!

280x210 single page pink without logo_low

One of the current campaigns that features Ms Carmichael’s gorgeous hand-lettering is for the latest ‘Twilight Sensations’ from Surf.

BBH approached us at the beginning of summer asking for some lettering with “organic elements, to create movement and intruige and beauty in the words”.

The lettering was used not only for the DM & poster campaign, but on the fantastic Surf Twilight Sensations: Shadows advertisement, viewable here!

Added 31st July ‘09:

Hello folks!

Thanks to the wonderful people at D&AD, we’ve had a HUGE response to our request for helping hands.  Our calendar is booked up to Christmas with work experience placements, which sadly means we cannot offer any more for the time being.

But, do not fear!  Continue to send in your applications; We’ll keep them on file until we have some cancellations and/or it’s the New Year and we’ll be looking for another bunch of enthusiastic people to join us!

Michaela.

new directors bl:nd – animation for GAP

“Black and White” utilizes light and shadow to convey the opposing themes of the piece, including love/hate, life/death, young/old, daydream/nightmare, and ugliness/beauty. The narrative unfolds through an innovative mix of shadow puppetry and animation, as two-dimensional characters come alive in a colourless world, underscored by The Raveonettes’ haunting vocals.
A majority of the elements used in the video were shot in-camera, and puppeteers’ hands and rigging are often left in the shots to create a more spontaneous and organic aesthetic. The piece retains its whimsy through unexpected visuals, references to the beloved Danish fairy tales of Sune’s youth, and a richly textured physical and emotional landscape that can only be fully experienced after multiple viewings.

Capital FM Summertime Ball animation

jelly were approached by our friends at BMB to produce an animated TV spot, to promote the Capital Radio Summertime Ball. The radio station’s ‘Big Bash’ is being held on the 7th June at The Emirates Stadium in North London, with a line-up of some of the biggest names in POP!!

As is often the jelly case, time and money were too tight to mention but our talented Director Elliot pulled the rabbit out of the hat with a busy little piece that drove the pop-tastic masses to the box office…

Well Done!

Dolph is our May Artist of the Month!

Dolph is a fantastic new talent who has recently joined jelly.

He caught our eye with his dynamic and energetic animations and has wowed us with his illustration and character design!

Describing his style as “an urbanish twisted fairytale”, he has over 10 years experience in animation; all starting from his hometown, Rio de Janeiro!

His clientele has ranged from MTV to Sony, Coca-Cola and the Cartoon Network. His main inspirations are old sci-fi movies, which has led him to work on special effects for feature films such as Chronicles of Narnia and Hellboy!

You may have seen him in Stash Magazine with his Anime Network piece called “My Favourite Show” or amongst the talent in the Motion Graphics Collection DVDs.

View his still-frames on our Artist of the Month webpage!!

Cadbury’s Creme Egg – Twisted!

cadburys goo_blog2

The latest lettering for Cadburys was done by our very own Alison Carmichael.

Saachi & Saatchi approached our lovely hand-lettering Guru to help advertise their newest twisted chocolate bars… filled with Creme Egg!!

Alison wrote ‘goo on the loose’ and our in-house super-artworker Tony Wilson retouched it to look like it was written in goo!

It has been used all over the place, from bus sides to tv adverts. So you can’t miss it!

oooh fancy a cuppa!

Alison Carmichael - Twinings

The latest TV and online commercials for Twinings are featuring some lovely hand lettering by non-other than our Alison Carmichael.  She has been spending the last few months creating lettering for various phrases, including the one above “Discover Twinings Everyday”.  The work was comissioned through our friends at AMV and Adam & Eve.

Just the thought of Twinings gets our mouths watering; so, go grab a cuppa and join us for a biscuit!
