AAH! A YETI!

banner06

There is! Seriously!

Skoda’s latest machine to rev out of their factory doors is called Yeti.  Archibald Ingall Stretton are in charge of their digital marketing and approached us a few weeks ago with a brief: The Yeti needed a more picture-book feel, in order to appeal to Mum’s.

Our Karen Cheung was perfect for the task!  She drew various illustrative parts and hand-painted them before sending them to AIS’s digital department for a breath of life.  There will be 3 pop-up-book-like digital banner campaigns featuring Karen’s fantastic artwork.

We’re excited to reveal the first has just gone live – go to: http://www.whatcar.com/Search/yeti/ and pull on the tabs!

Pizza Express – Lettering in Dough!

Pizza Express_blog

jelly hello!

October has seen Pizza Express throw some fantastic deals at their customers; and displayed some rather tasty artwork by Alison Carmichael.

Work Club approached Alison a few months ago with the idea for dough lettering.  jelly worked along side Pizza Express’s very own “Dough Master” to shoot a very large batch of dough with Alison’s letters cut out…

jelly soon realised that this wasn’t the way forward, and another shoot was organised with a real Pizza Express Chef – and the lettering was re-touched later.

If you’d like to see the version online – and of course, get some cheap pizza deals! – go to www.pizzaexpress-offers.co.uk

Sim came to say hello!

sim

Yesterday, we received a visit from our friend & illustrator Sim Marriott.

He flew all the way from Cornwall (yes, MILES away!) to visit jelly towers; check out his portfolio and tell us about what he’s been up to; oh, and drink our tea. Of course.

He reminded us that some of his work is currently being displayed on one of our client’s websites.  Our friends at DDB UK are showcasing their campaign for Kwik-Fit featuring Sim’s fantastic illustrated characters.  You can check it out here!

We can’t wait for Sim to come and visit us again!!

Friday Fun: Confessions of Karen Cheung

obituaries_blog

We are very fortunate to have rather significant number of artists whose artwork, well… put quite simply, makes us laugh in an uncontrollable manner. And in the spirit of Friday, we thought we’d show you the most recent artwork of one of our favourites – Karen. (If you have no idea who Karen is – well, then where on earth have you been?)

We recently received an e-mail saying “I’ve attached two things I drew a while ago for fun under the title ‘confessions’. They are a bit silly.” – you don’t say!

wifesexchange_blog

They’re taken from Cretinous Ostrich: “a silly, slightly offensive drawing blog I keep with my friend Barry Evans, who is an animator. We put up stupid stuff a few times a week and have offended a few Christians along the way…”

If you’d like to see more, we really suggest you check out www.cretinousostrich.blogspot.com

(p.s. if you’re easily offended, please do not click on the link.)

What’s your “if only…” technology?

Our friends at Fishburn Hedges recently approached us with a rather unusual project… To illustrate the Guardian Online’s article on celebs and scientists’ dream gadgets.

The project entitled “If Only…” is aimed at encouraging Britain’s budding young scientists and engineers to enter the National Science and Engineering Competition.

Damien took the ideas of people like Comedian Ben Miller and ex-England footballer Gary Lineker and transformed them into amusing yet very fitting illustrations.

We recommend you check them and all the ideas out by clicking on the Teleporter (right)!

If you’d like to know more about the project, please also take a look at the Times Online article here.

The high-speed British rail company want to encourage more passengers to travel First Class. They approached our hand-lettering guru Alison Carmichael and our jelly house team to help promote this and explain “How One Presents One’s Self In First Class”.

4 Creative web buttons

4creative_carmichael

We’ve recently been doing some illustration for the folks at 4 creative!

They’ve recently designed a new website and asked our very own hand-lettering guru Alison Carmichael to give them a hand.

Despite the link buttons being really small, we think the hand lettering looks fantastic!  Check it out here!
