Gestalten editor Jan Middndorp got in touch with Alison directly after seeing her typographic portfolio expand over the years. Her various styles pop up again and again in many different mediums and it’s about time she was recognised by some of the industry’s leading experts in the field. This beautiful book is a stunning compilation of hand-made and digital scripts that showcase the beauty of handwritten letterforms and it is on sale now.  We are very proud to celebrate our lady’s fine typographic talents.

Inspired by Music

jelly designers, Sawdust have produced this fantastic type inspired by music!

For this personal project, they wanted to make the type look dynamic, as if each letter had musical notes dancing around.  It’s really effective when you spell band names or artists, like ‘Michael Jackson’ (above).

This week we’ve interviewed digital lettering artist, Steven Bonner…

10 questions with steven bonner

1. Who are your idols?
I don’t think I have idols, but I’m a fan of guys like Ken Barber, Mark Simonson and Michael Doret.

2. What’s your favourite snack whilst working?
I love pretzels. I can easily go through a big bag of Penn State in one sitting. After a while they’re murder on the jaws though.
