The Psychology of Stuff and Things

Matt Lyon was commissioned to create a vibrant and conceptual cover for The Psychologist Magazine.

Centring on an article which was about ‘the Psychology of Stuff and Things’, Matt’s response to the brief was to illustrate a person facing an amalgamation of personal possessions.

Matt took a ‘shrine of the self’ approach to his illustration, using his bold colour palette and love for pattern to weave a mix of objects and things, taking inspiration from the greats such as Peter Blake’s pop art arrangements and the boxes of Joseph Cornell.
